Carlos Santana Honored as
“Community Advocate and Entertainer of the Year”
for In Business Las Vegas’ 2010 Angel Awards

LAS VEGAS (June 25, 2010)— Carlos Santana, resident headliner at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was selected to receive the “Community Advocate and Entertainer of the Year” award at the In Business Las Vegas 2010 Angel Awards.

The event took place at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on June 24. Accepting the award on his behalf was his sister, Maria (Santana) Vrionis and Vice President and COO of Santana Management, Michael Vrionis.

Santana has generously donated his time and money to the Vegas community since he began his residency show at The Joint.   A portion of every ticket sold to his show, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits is donated to his Milagro Foundation.  The foundation has then donated money back into the community by supporting various organizations such as Three Square Food Bank and The Andre Agassi Foundation for The Andre Agassi Preparatory School to name a few.

In addition, Santana has opened his concert dates with programming for Three Square, The Agassi Foundation and Project Sole to help raise awareness for each of these causes to increase financial contributions. He has also permitted them to be on-site at shows, participated in public relations campaigns with his time, name, and likeness, run messaging on the video screens at his shows—all helping to provide exposure to these charities.

“Carlos is a true humanitarian who fosters a deep concern for his fellow human beings. As a global citizen, he recognizes the need to act locally,” said John Meglen, president and co-CEO of AEG Live/Concerts West. “Carlos is happy to be part of the Las Vegas community and will continue to bless those locally through his philanthropic endeavors.”

“We congratulate Carlos Santana on this well-deserved honor,” said Paul Davis, vice president of entertainment of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. “We are proud to have a philanthropic resident at The Joint who recognizes the need to give back to the local community.”

Each year, In Business Las Vegas honors the remarkable people and businesses in southern Nevada who make a difference in the charitable landscape of the community with its annual Angel Awards presentation ceremony and cocktail reception. Winners are recognized and profiled in a special Giving Guide publication June 25.

Carlos Santana returns to The Joint Aug. 25 - Sept. 5. Santana plays approximately 36 times per year at The Joint, with a show time of 8 pm. Ticket prices start at only $51 and can be purchased by visiting the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.
